The pilot group proves it works. After that, nobody hears about it again.
Recognize this situation? Below are the Liberating Structures that change it — a concrete example, and the reason this one fits here. New to Liberating Structures? Here's what it is.
Shift & Share is literally built to spread a working example.
For example: One team tests a new way of working for three months, with convincing results. The write-up gets shared neatly in an internal newsletter. A year later, that team is still the only one working that way — nobody else picked it up.
Liberating Structures for this situation:
Panarchy
Panarchy places the pilot team's success within a larger map of levels: from small and fast-experimenting to large and stable. The group maps out what factors play at each level, and where the small, successful experiment is stuck between levels.
That makes visible what still needs to happen for something small to actually spread to the rest of the organization — a newsletter alone doesn't do that; a map that explicitly connects the levels does.
Shift & Share
Shift & Share is literally built to actively spread a working example: the pilot team presents in small, rotating groups — a few minutes per station — while the audience moves from station to station.
That's a completely different kind of spread than reading a newsletter: people hear the example firsthand, can ask questions on the spot, and walk away with whatever actually inspired them.
No certification, no lengthy prep — read the steps and try it at your next meeting.
